Diary of a fat girl part 2: carbs carbs and a few more carbs…

I’m not going to lie. I have eaten quite a substantial amount of carbs recently. And I’m not even a little bit ashamed (okay, maybe a teeny bit…but not much..)

As per my last post, I’ve been following slimming world for a couple of months now and managed to lose just over a stone. Then I got into holiday mode early and started the naughty food habits again. Then…I went on holiday and before I’d even got to the end of the 4 hour journey there, I was chomping a sausage bap in the motorway services! Not gonna lie, it was a good use of calories, syns and everything else! πŸ™Š

Because I went to the seaside for the week, it’s obviously standard British tradition to eat chips by the sea. 🍟 So I did, a lot. πŸ™ˆ I felt a teeny bit conscious of the effect what I was eating would have on my diet progression, but then I thought “you know what, sod it, I’m on holiday I can basically eat whatever I like for the whole week!!”. 🀣🀣 Which is a great theory of course, but after a few days eating naughty food all day, my body starts to crave healthy food so I was trying to incorporate fruit as much as I could, just to give myself a bit of a balance! 🍏🍐🍌 Because clearly, eating an apple at the end of a long day eating sausage and chips followed by ice cream will DEFINITELY balance it all out and it’ll be just like I never ate anything bad at all!…right?! πŸ€”

Anyway, after an amazing week food-wise, I did start to wonder what effect it’d had on the scales…so I bit the bullet and jumped on when I got back. And to my complete astonishment, I’d actually only gained 1 measly pound! So I guess it just goes to show that even when you’re on a diet, you can actually give yourself a bit of a break sometimes and it really doesn’t do your diet a massive amount of harm. I think sometimes we give ourselves grief for “letting ourselves down” by having a cheat meal, day, week, or even month! But really, maybe this kind of thing actually does us some good – life really is waaaaaay too short to be miserable!!
